Movers and Packers in Dubai Marina: Permits, Service Lifts and Moving Tips

Movers and packers in Dubai Marina deal with one thing more than anything else: tower rules. Moving into or out of a Marina tower is mostly about paperwork and timing, meaning a move permit from the building, a booked service lift and a crew that knows high-rise moves. Get those three right and the move itself is the easy part.

Step 1: Get your move permit

Most Marina towers will not let movers in without a move-in or move-out permit from building management or the community portal.

  • Moving in: you’ll usually need your signed tenancy contract, Ejari registration and Emirates ID. Permits commonly take one to two working days once documents and any fees are in.
  • Moving out: buildings often ask for an Ejari cancellation and a no-objection letter from the landlord, and may want your DEWA final bill settled.

Rules vary between buildings and developers, so check your tower’s portal or ask security at least a week before moving day.

Step 2: Book the service lift

As soon as the permit is approved, book the service lift and agree a time slot with building security. Towers often limit moving to certain hours, and a missed slot can mean waiting another day. If you are moving between two towers, book both lifts for the same day and leave a buffer between them for driving and loading.

Step 3: Utilities and connections

  • DEWA: register Ejari first, then apply for move-in activation of electricity and water.
  • District cooling: many Marina towers bill A/C separately from DEWA, so open that account too.
  • Internet: book du or e& installation a week ahead so you are online on day one.

Step 4: Pack for a high-rise move

  • Large sofas, beds and wardrobes may need dismantling to fit the service lift.
  • Protect lift walls, corridors and floors: good movers bring padding and floor protection, and some buildings require it.
  • Label every box by room. In a tower, every extra trip to the lift costs time.
  • Keep a small “first night” box with chargers, toiletries, bedding and the kettle, and carry it yourself.

Parking and loading in the Marina

Marina streets are busy and loading bays are limited. Movers who know the area plan the truck’s arrival around the lift slot, so the crew isn’t waiting with your furniture on the pavement. Ask building security where the truck should park and whether it needs a gate pass.

What a typical Marina apartment move looks like

  1. Survey: a free survey of your apartment to agree the volume, the packing needed and a written price.
  2. Packing: on the morning of the move, the crew wraps furniture, packs boxes and dismantles large items.
  3. Loading: during your lift slot, everything goes down in an agreed order, heavy items first.
  4. Delivery: at the new home, the crew unloads during the second lift slot, places furniture by room and reassembles beds and wardrobes.
  5. Handover: a walk-through with you before the crew leaves, so nothing is missed.

Moving out: getting your deposit back

  • Book a joint inspection with your landlord or agent once the apartment is empty.
  • Take dated photos of every room, the balcony and the appliances.
  • Patch small holes from wall hangings and clean the apartment, or ask your movers about cleaning.
  • Return all keys and access cards and get a signed handover form.

Choosing the right day to move

Weekdays are usually easier than weekends in Dubai Marina: lifts are less booked, loading bays are freer and traffic on Al Marsa Street and around JBR is lighter. Avoid the last and first days of the month if you can, because that is when most leases start and end and every building’s service lift is in demand. In summer, an early-morning start keeps the crew and your belongings out of the worst heat, and a building that allows evening moves can be a good option too.

Moving into a furnished or smaller apartment

Many people moving within the Marina are downsizing or moving into a furnished apartment. If not everything fits, decide before moving day what goes into storage, what is sold and what is donated, so the crew only takes what belongs in the new home.
